DC Trip, March 25-28!
We will be taking our annual trip to DC from March 25th-28th. We will leave the night of the 25th and return the 28th. On the 26th, we will be visiting the Capitol, the DNC and more! And on the 27th, everyone will be free to explore DC on their own. This is a great way to meet and bond with other BU Dems members and learn more about the group as well as find out about possible internships around DC. The total cost of the trip will be $50, and we are asking you to pay a non-refundable $25 deposit to reserve your spot (which we need in order to reserve hotel rooms). We will be collecting deposits at our meeting this week and next week. If you cannot attend the meetings but would still like to go on the trip, please contact Esha (erakhit@bu.edu) or Matt Wall (mattwall@bu.edu). Also, if you would really like to attend but cannot afford to, please contact Esha or Matt and we will try to arrange something for you.
Well that's enough for now. Keep warm in this weather and be sure to bundle up on your way to the meeting tomorrow night!

Hey Dems!
I know how much we all love excessively long e-mails! Or not... But bear with us here. This newsletter is totally worth it. Especially considering most of it is detailing exciting events that we think you all might want to look into.
First and foremost we have our weekly meeting this Thursday at 7pm in our new room, SED 130. We're going to come together to discuss strong rebuttals to republican talking points and tactics, as well as recent events, including Obama taking on the Republican caucus! It was pretty awesome, if you missed it you can watch it here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/01/29/transcript-of-president-o_n_442423.html
Other upcoming events:
Tufts Future Symposium, Feb. 6 12pm-4pm, Alumni Lounge, Tufts University
The Tufts Democrats are pleased to announce that this year’s Issues of the Future Symposium will be held in the Alumnae Lounge on Feb. 6, 2010 at noon. The topic of this year’s symposium is public education reform, an ongoing issue in American politics that the Obama administration has placed at the top of its public policy agenda. We will hear from speakers such as noted commentator Deborah Meier, Superintendent of Somerville schools Dr. Tony Pierantozzi, and Josh Biber, the Executive Director of Teach for America Boston. If you are interested in public policy, are committed to the issue of public education reform, or would like to have a conversation about something other than healthcare (!!!), we welcome you to attend the Issues of the Future Symposium!
If you'd like to attend, contact one of the eboard members of BUCD and we can get you more information about location, transportation, etc.
