| GLAD, New England's leading legal rights organization dedicated to ending discrimination based on sexual orientation, HIV status, and gender identity & expression, seeks interns for the Public Affairs & Education department. Public Affairs Interns assist the department in its efforts to communicate GLAD’s ground-breaking legal victories to the public and make certain that LGBT and HIV-positive people are aware of and can exercise their legal rights. Additionally, fall interns will be closely involved in work surrounding GLAD’s 30th anniversary celebration throughout the year.
Although projects vary depending on semester/time of year, some of the duties interns will be responsible for are: representing GLAD at outreach events (including Pride celebrations, forums, discussion panels, etc); historical and archival research; assisting with logistics of events; tracking LGBT press and maintaining press database; scanning, copying, and data entry; working one day per week on GLAD’s Legal InfoLine; transcription and editing of interviews; mailings; and other administrative duties. The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to make contributions to the LGBT and HIV-positive community and will have knowledge of the challenges facing this community; the ability to complete self-directed projects; strong writing and summarizing skills; and a willingness to ask questions and work with a team. Internships can be full-time or part-time and are unpaid. We are very flexible and will work with interns to ensure that their schedule works well with other commitments. | ||
